Abstract

The utilization of libraries can be observed not only directly from the reality on-site, based on visitors who come to use the facilities and collections, but also from digital visits through cyberspace in the form of websites owned by the library, and from works of art such as films that take the theme or setting in a library. These benefits are not limited to general aspects such as obtaining information, learning, research, and recreation. However, in the film "Detention of the dead", the author identifies a shifting or extended function of the library, namely as a protection function. The purpose of this study is to ascertain that libraries indeed possess a myriad of benefits and functions for those who choose to visit them. One of these functions, beyond the general ones, is providing security protection for its users. In the real world, this security protection pertains to safeguarding against ignorance and poor information. The research method employed is qualitative with content analysis. This approach focuses on interpreting the meaning and portrayal of the library's roles and functions within the film. The results obtained from the research on this film indicate that the library provides a security protection function to its users, who are characters in the film, from the threat of zombies attacking the school.
